My 27 years of self-employment allowed me the freedom to spend up to 4 days a week honing my skills on the water. As I began sharing my knowledge with friends and family, I discovered a new passion - teaching others and helping them to catch the fish of their dreams. This realization led me to pursue professional guiding full-time, and I’ve been privileged to share my expertise on Lake Guntersville since September 2022 as “Hydrilla Gorilla Guide Service.” With over 25 Years of experience on Lake Guntersville, my intimate knowledge of its vast waters and ever-changing patterns is what helps to set me apart as your go-to guide. Let me start off by saying I don’t typically take the time to provide reviews. But in this case I felt the need to share our experience. Talk about southern hospitality, Jessie went above and beyond and helped my son and I in multiple ways during our week stay in Alabama. The original plan was to go out with him on day one and then fish out of our boat the rest of the trip. Unfortunately we had issues with our lower unit on the boat after 3 days of fishing. We were going to have to cut our trip short. I reached out to Jessie and he put me in contact with a local mechanic and offered to take us out for the last two days of our trip. This was HUGE for my 14 year old son that loves to fish, it may be his #1 passion. My son had goals of landing a 5lb bass, well they blew that out of the water with multiple 5lb fish and we finished the last cast of the day and my son landed a 7.12lb Bass for a new PB. Not only does Jessie know where the fish are, he taught my son and myself so much about fishing, weather patterns and fish movement. I highly recommend him, as he is very personable. After 3 days of fishing with Jessie, I would consider him a friend and will definitely be using him again in the near future!!! Tight Lines

Had absolutely epic day. Cold tough weather in the morning gave way to some blue skies and sunshine in the afternoon and Jessie put us on the fish!!! 22bass in about 4hrs all over 3lbs with the biggest being just short of 6. Any unforgettable trip and we'll definitely be back to fish the spring season with The Hydrilla Gorilla!!!!

Today was best day I have ever had on Guntersville in the winter. Despite having a terrible wind and cloudy/raining conditions, the guide, Jesse, knew exactly where the fish were located, and exactly how to catch them. From the first time I called him to book the trip until we said our goodbyes at the ramp, he was polite and willing to answer any and all of our questions. His boat was clean and free of clutter, and all of his equipment was in great working order. I recently had shoulder surgery, and he was able to accommodate me and my needs, and kept me catching fish all day. If you are looking for a true standup guy, this is him. I will definitely be using his services again. Highly recommended Jesse and Hydrilla Gorilla Guide Service.
