My journey with bass fishing began at the age of 18, and my passion only intensified as I got into competitive tournament angling a few years later. My 27 years of self-employment allowed me the freedom to spend up to 4 days a week honing my skills on the water. As I began sharing my knowledge with friends and family, I discovered a new passion - teaching others and helping them to catch the fish of their dreams. This realization led me to pursue professional guiding full-time, and I’ve been privileged to share my expertise on Lake Guntersville since September 2022 as “Hydrilla Gorilla Guide Service.” With over 28+ Years of experience on Lake Guntersville, my intimate knowledge of its vast waters and ever-changing patterns is what helps to set me apart as your go-to guide. Founded in September 2022 by Jessie Derosier, a lifelong angler with over 28+ years of experience, the business offers expertly tailored fishing trips for anglers of all skill levels.

Jessie’s passion for bass fishing and his desire to share his knowledge led him to establish Hydrilla Gorilla Guide Service. After decades of mastering Lake Guntersville's waters and competing in tournaments, Jessie discovered his true calling—not just catching bass, but helping others experience the thrill and satisfaction of angling success. His background in self-employment, combined with his enthusiasm for teaching, made the transition to full-time guiding a natural fit.

Where and when do we launch?
Where do we launch?
• Typically, where I have current schools of fish located, which changes based on the time of year and seasonal fish movements. If a client wishes to launch at a certain location, that can be accommodated.


What time do we launch?
• That is usually based on client preference, weather conditions, or what time the best bite has been the previous days. I am really flexible in this area.
What types of trips do you offer and what’s included?
What types of trips do you offer (e.g. half day, full day, multi-day)?

• 4 Hour / Artificial Lures - ½ Day Trips
• 6 Hour / Artificial Lures - Full Day Trips
• 8 Hour / Artificial Lures - Extended Full Day Trips
• 4 Hour / Artificial Lures - ½ Night Trips (9pm - 1am)
• 6 Hour / Artificial Lures - Night Trip (10pm - 4am)

What is included in your trips (e.g. gear, instruction, cleaning and packaging of caught fish)?

• We Provide All Rods And Reels Needed During Your Fishing Trip
• We Provide All Hooks Weights Tackle And Lures We Will Use During Your Trip
• We Provide All Life Preservers For You To Use During Your Fishing Trip
• We Provide Detailed Instructions On The Seasonal Fishing Patterns We Use
• We Provide Detailed Instructions On The Fishing Techniques We Will Be Using
• We Try To Answer All The Questions You Can Throw At Us During Your Trip
• We “Do Not” provide fish cleaning or packaging! This will be the clients responsibility should they choose to keep legal fish..
What do I need to bring and are deposits required?
What do they need to bring?
• Sun Block or Sun Protection, Sun Glasses, any Medications that may be needed, Drinks, Snacks, Rain Gear, or Cold Weather Gear.
Please Note: In winter the temps on the water tend to be colder then the reported cold temps for the day, so please dress accordingly!!!


Are Deposits Required?
• Yes, a $100.00 deposit is required to hold the day chosen. See deposit section for deposit details on refunds / or it being applied toward a future trip. Yes, The deposit is transferable in cases of inclement weather.
Do you offer Electronic Trips?
• We Offer Either a 2 Hr. or 3 Hr. Course Depending on # of Units
• We Offer Training for Humminbird Or Garmin Electronics
• We Offer Electronics Trips on Your Own Boat Where We Will Not Only Dial In Your Electronics, But Actually Teach You How To Do This On Your Own. That Way When You Encounter Changing Conditions, Or Move To A New Body Of Water You Are Comfortable Making The Needed Adjustments To Keep You Catching Fish.
• Humminbird Electronics – We Cover Map Reading, 2d Sonar, Down Imaging, Side Imaging, Mega 360 and Mega Live
• Garmin Electronics – We Cover Map Reading, 2D Sonar, Down View, Side View and Live Scope
• If You are Looking To Upgrade Your Tournament Gear and Want To Learn About Or See In Action the Best Humminbird Has To Offer Before Making the Investment. We Can Take My Boat. It Is Rigged With 2 Humminbird Apex 19’s with 2D, Mega Down Imaging, Mega Side Imaging and Mega 360 also a Humminbird Solix 12 As Well As A 12”126sv Garmin w/Livescope (LVS34 Transducer)
Where do you fish, what can you catch, and are there any discounts or surcharges?
Where are your usual fishing locations?
• Fishing Locations Vary Based On Seasonal Movements Of The Fish. However If A Specific Area Of The Lake Is Preferred I Am Happy To Focus Your Trip Around Your Preferred Location!

What types of fish can be caught at these locations?
• We Primarily Focus On Largemouth Bass Spotted Bass & Smallmouth Bass However we Frequently Have a Bi-Catch of White Bass Crappie Cat Fish Drum And Bluegill.
