My journey with bass fishing began at the age of 18, and my passion only intensified as I got into competitive tournament angling a few years later. My 27 years of self-employment allowed me the freedom to spend up to 4 days a week honing my skills on the water. As I began sharing my knowledge with friends and family, I discovered a new passion - teaching others and helping them to catch the fish of their dreams. This realization led me to pursue professional guiding full-time, and I’ve been privileged to share my expertise on Lake Guntersville since September 2022 as “Hydrilla Gorilla Guide Service.” With over 25 Years of experience on Lake Guntersville, my intimate knowledge of its vast waters and ever-changing patterns is what helps to set me apart as your go-to guide. My goal is to provide each client with a personalized, memorable experience tailored to their skill level and goals. Founded in September 2022 by Jessie Derosier, a lifelong angler with over 25 years of experience, the business offers expertly tailored fishing trips for anglers of all skill levels.

Jessie’s passion for bass fishing and his desire to share his knowledge led him to establish Hydrilla Gorilla Guide Service. After decades of mastering Lake Guntersville's waters and competing in tournaments, Jessie discovered his true calling—not just catching bass, but helping others experience the thrill and satisfaction of angling success. His background in self-employment, combined with his enthusiasm for teaching, made the transition to full-time guiding a natural fit.

EPIC is an understatement to describe our day fishing with Jessi. We’ve had multiple successful trips to Guntersville, but wanted to experience the lake with a local guide. Found Jessi randomly online and texted him a message. He answered immediately and called multiple times over a couple of days to confirm the details of our trip. We appreciated that he was curious about and took into consideration our preferred style of fishing while planning the trip. Not only did he accommodate us, he nailed the battle plan. And what a battle it was! We had a 6.5 pounder in the boat within 15 minutes of getting lines in the water, and were on our way to the most phenomenal day ever. By the end of the day, Jessi, my brother-in-law and I boated 132 fish, a 6.5, 5.3, 4.75 and many more weighing 2-4 pounds. We were casting and catching so frantically that we probably lost ANOTHER 40-50 fish on the retrieve. Clearly the stars aligned perfectly- the water temp, wind, shad spawn, etc. but Jessi anticipated it and knew where to go and what to do. He KNOWS fish, their patterns and how to catch them. Despite being lifelong fishermen, we learned a lot spending the day with him. Jessi is also very personable and we laughed a lot and celebrated in disbelief all day long. If you’re planning a trip and want or need a guide- you MUST call Jessi. And if he isn’t available- reschedule your trip!!
